Inspiration Post.....Genny

Hello everyone...Genny here. For my inspiration post today. I decided to work with this skull again. I just love them and am always finding different ways to use them. For the one above, I coloured it with my promarkers. I then used it to make a feature on a new sign for my cottage. I had a piece of slate and painted orange flowers around the edge and placed this skull in the bottom left corner. I then covered the whole lot with some exterior Modge Podge several times. It now sits outside my cottage and has created quite a stir. I think that there may be several cottages with a candy skull very soon..lol.

I was intending to stop there but then I decided ton see if it was possible to papercut the same skull...so I did. I took the black and white image and cut out lots of the plain paper. I was also careful to leave a small white area around the whole skull to give it some definition after cutting so much out. I then glued the papercut onto a pink, lilac and blue background paper which I had made using my H2Os. I finally mounted the whole thing onto a piece of black.

There is no doubt that I will be finding other ways to use these skulls. I am aiming to make a panel to decorate my front door and that may well be a collection of skulls. I will share it with you all as soon as I've finished it.

I hope that you will come and join in the new challenge that is due to begin here on the blog tomorrow. The rest of the team has created some wonderful makes. so I hope that you will pop over and join in the fun.So until next time..take care and happy crafting.

Inspiration Post

Hello everyone...Genny here. I always try to include my thought process, when sharing my inspiration..and todays is rather strange. As you know I do have rather a passion for skulls...and my house stands testament to that fact..lol. Well as I was working on these skulls and thought to myself that these would look great outside..something a little different..so that is where they are going to live. They are going on the outside of the door to my studio.I have found a product that allows your artwork to go outside without being damaged..so that's my plan. I have coloured these skulls with my promarkers and have used different colourways on both. These will be joined by the skull from a previous inspiration post and create a panel on the door. When I've completed the door I will share it with you.

I have so enjoyed seeing your creations in the challenges and I hope that you will enter the new challenge that is going to start tomorrow. I have seen the other creations made by the rest of the design team and they are all fabulous...I hope that you will pop over tomorrow and check them out. As always all designs are available from the SLS shop. So until next time...take care and happy crafting.

Inspiration Post

Hi everyone...Genny here with my inspiration post. I have to say to find something from SLS that inspires me is very easy. I just love everything. As you get to know me..goodness help you..lol..you will soon come to recognise what I really love. Skulls, Owls, Cats tend to feature alot and I can get very excited about them. So when I saw this great Candy Skull, I just had to do it. I decided to keep to a very small and muted (for me) pallet..so I stuck to  shades of orange with green extras. I love to pick say 4 shades of 1 colour and just to see what it turns out like. I coloured the skull with my promarkers, cut it out and mounted it onto some black card. It is now on the wall in my parlour, alongside other skulls from SLS. I have to say it does surprise strangers to my house..but they always come round to loving what I do..I also have a collection of skulls that I have painted myself plus lots of ornaments of Skulls, including one from Transylvania. Why not take a look at all the skulls that are available from SLS.
One of the things that I love, being part of the DT is seeing all the fabulous creations that the others come up with. And of course I love seeing all your creations that you enter into the challenge. A new challenge is due to begin tomorrow..so I hope that you will all come along and join in the fun. So until next time..take care and happy crafting.

Inspiration Post

Hello everyone...Genny here with my inspiration post. As I said last month, my projects tend to begin with a thought. And this month was no different. As many of you know, I am a bit of a crazy cat lady and I just adore all the cat images available here at SLS. As I was looking through the images wondering what to pick, I came across this little chap..Grumpy Cat. It made me giggle because I was looking at one of my cats who is actually called Twinkle and is the most bad tempered cat you could wish to meet..so in that moment the inspiration appeared

For this project, I began by creating the background. I had a piece of grey board which I coloured with my acrylics and then dabbed over the top using my starlight paint. I coloured the cat with my promarkers and then cut him out and added him to the background. I finally added the sentiment. I also added some glossy accents to his eyes.

This whole project has made me laugh because how many times I've seen cats that just don't suit there names. And I can imagine that this featured cat would just hate being called Twinkle..lol

I hope that you will pop over to the etsy shop and take a look at all the wonderful images that are available...and perhaps you will have an inspirational thought of your own...and who knows where it will take you. So until next time...take care and happy crafting.

Inspiration Post

Hello everyone..Genny here. I'm so excited to have become part of this fantastic team, I don't think that I've stopped smiling yet..lol. This is my first inspiration post..so forgive me if I get it wrong or waffle on too much. I decided to work with wonderful image which is available from the Etsy shop here at SLS Lines. When I begin a project there is always a thought process..and it may begin with the image or sometimes it is with a quote that I have found. On this project it seemed as if both came together. I was looking at this image and thinking just how wistful she looked. There seemed to me that there was a sadness behind her eyes. And then I saw this quote. So it was as if it was meant to be. Another thought that struck me was that normally when I am colouring anything to do with the Day of the Dead I tend to use bright colours but somehow on this image I wanted to use pastel colours. So I did. The frame is from my stash and I covered it with this blue patterned paper, also from my stash. I coloured the lady with my promarkers, cut her out and added it to the frame. I finally added the quote.
I hope that you will enter the current challenge...I think a new one begins tomorrow..so keep your eye on the blog. I have seen some of the fantastic makes by the design team and wow..what a source of inspiration in itself.
Well I'm off for a coffee and a scroll through the etsy store. So until next time..take care and happy crafting.

This morning, it is the day of you to present our next DT member!

We are proud to present you Maureen!

"I am Maureen, I am 33 years old, I’ve been married to Daniel for 14 years and we have 4 children. I trained as a nurse a few years ago but was pregnant when I qualified and while I took some time to have a couple of babies, hubby is off at uni training to be a Social Worker. In the meantime, I’ve rediscovered my love of crafting! I have always drawn things, I studied Art and Design at school and after getting married and having my son I discovered card making thanks to a friend and crafty tv channels! That was 12 years ago! I didn’t do much while I studied from 2006-2009 and then after having the babies I didn’t really do anything until about a 2 years and now my addiction is greater than ever! I love learning new crafty techniques and discovering new products and 'must haves' and expanding my stash! I am delighted to be joining this highly talented team and cant wait to get started! mo xxx http://maureenjscott.blogspot.co.uk"

Thank you very much Maureen!!

I live in the state of Georgia in the good ole' south where they call us all Georgia Peaches! LOL  I am the wife to a wonderful man, Kevin, who is from Australia. He is very tolerant of my crafting!! And he is always complimenting me on everything I make. LOL  He is a bit biased I think!!  I am a mother of three, Taylor (20), Michael (15) and Bailey (13). We definitely have our trials and tribulations, but I love them all dearly and wouldn't trade being a mother for the world. We have two dogs, T-Bone and Brisket and two cats Highlight and White-Out. Do you see our theme? LOL  The dogs are named after cuts of beef LOL and the cats are office supplies LOL!!! I know.. we are very goofy!! I have been crafting since the dawn of ages .. Okay.. maybe that is a little bit of an exaggeration, but I first found a small scrapbooking store right after I had Taylor.. so that is 20 years ago!!!

Thank you very much Susan!!

HI my name is Tanya Johnson and I am 37 years old I am married to my childhood sweetheart and together we have a beautiful daughter named Abby who is 7 who also loves doing crafts alongside me. I have been crafting for 16 years and have enjoyed seeing myself grow as a crafter over that time..  You can usually find me crafting after my daughter goes to bed which then allows me to unwind after a busy day both at work and home.   I love making cards but every once in a while I may create a scrapbook page or an altered item.   I enjoy sharing my work with others in hopes of giving inspiration to others.  When I’m not creating something you can most likely find my nose in a book which is my other passion.

I have been crafting over 21 years and tried my hands at all kinds of techniques over the years.  I started blogging in March of 2012 in order to join challenges.  I became totally hooked!!!!  I can't believe this world existed and I only found out about it then.  I see blogging as a wonderful opportunity to improve my card making abilities.

I have realized that through the web I get to meet amazing people from all over the world and learn from them.

Presentation Day 1

Hello everybody!

Today, we begin the presentation of all the members of our Design Team.

Sal (Owner)

SLSlines is the work of Sal Scheibe, a freelance illustrator and graphic designer who loves to draw and create fun illustrations. Sal works as the Art Director of ArtTrader Magazine. Prior to freelance illustrating, she worked as a Creative Designer for a music firm working with TV and advertising clients.
Sal spends her nights drawing geeky things like RPG characters, zombies, fairies, awkward people, pretty girls and odd animals. She offers a broad range of fun digital stamps in many themes from geeky to cute and whimsical to realistic. Her digital stamps start life as sketchy little doodles which are then cleaned up digitally in Photoshop and made presentable and perfect for you.

Sal's favorite tools are Wacom pen and tablet as well as Copic markers, lots of fineliners and many types of erasers (which are used often). Her favorite artists include John Singer Sargent, Norman Rockwell, JC Leyendecker, Joe Sorren and Phil Hale. And Steve Epting too.

If you'd like a custom digital stamp made or have some suggestions, feel free to write to Sal with themes you'd like to see in the Etsy store.

Valou (DT-Coordinator)

My name is Valérie, more known under the pen name valou250809. I lived in Belgium just next to the big city of Chaleroi and in 40 kilometers from Brussels.
