Happy Dia De Los Muertos

Dia De Los Muertos will actually start tomorrow on Nov 1.  Are you familiar with this holiday?  Having grown up in San Antonio, TX, I am.  It's actually very similar to a day celebrated by many Christians called All Saint's Day.  Dia de los Muertos in English, Day of the Dead is a celebration, but also a very respectful day for those who have passed.  It is a day of remembrance for all the family and friends who are gone.  In many cultures a table is set up with photos and beloved articles of the deceased person along with candles and gifts.  People gather and tell stories and visit the graves to leave their loved ones offerings which they believe will prevent the dead from haunting them. Overall is very much a celebration of the people who have come before you.

I hope you love this stunning image from SLS Lines today, she's called Day of the Dead Calaveras Girl. Such a beautiful image.  Be sure and check out her other awesome stamps over at the SLS Lines store on Etsy.  Also, we are having a fun Challenge over on the SLS Lines Challenge blog, click the button above that says Challenge, and join in the fun with us, we'd love to see your creations.

Sugar Skull Masks

Afternoon everyone Marie here,
Just thought id pop along and share with you what I did with one of the Sugar Skull images.

I blew the image up to full A4 size and printed it off 3 times. I coloured the images in using coloured pencils and promarkers.

I cut the skulls out and mounted them onto a 3 kebab skewers so that they can be handheld masks all ready for Halloween on Saturday to give the trick or treaters a little scare.

A Masked Beauty.....

Hi Everyone!

Today I am sharing a journal page using one of the many amazing images available at the Etsy Store!!

This one is Fairy with Mask.

Image coloured with pastel pencils and fussy cut. Journal background page was covered with paint then I adhered a piece of Tim Holtz tissue paper. I added some texture paste through a stencil and some spray inks. then popped the image on with some muslin cloth and skeleton leaves plus some little collage butterflies from Collections.

I love the colours I used on this - just love to create with pink & purple - she is really feminine.

Don't forget to check out our current challenge - we would love to see you use some SLS Lines images to inspire us!!!!

Until next time - happy crafting!

Sharon

Day of the Dead Calavera Girl

Hi it's Kate here
and I'm sharing my recent make using the great
'Day of theDead Calavera Girl' digital stamp.

Isn't she great. I used her as the main feature on a page in one of my smash! books. I think she looks great in greyscale but would also work in lovely bright colours.
I hope you like my interpretation
Kate
